Welcome to the world, Cole!
You weigh less than seven pounds and are a mere three-weeks-old, but Poppy and I are already so in love with you. Now I understand what our friends who have grandchildren meant when they said you would wrap us around your little finger the moment we laid eyes on you. You did! Oh my gosh, you did!
Has your daddy told you yet? One of the people you are named after is your uncle, Joseph Cole. He died when he was seventeen-years-old. Poppy and I will tell you all about him–about his quiet personality, his strong character, and the goofy things he did with your daddy and Uncle Wyatt when they were little boys.
But the most important thing I want you to know, Cole, is that God knew and loved you before you were born. He loved you so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die for you. He designed your personality, strengths, weaknesses, and bestowed special gifts upon you to use to bring Him glory and good to mankind. I can’t wait to discover what those are!
You have an incredible daddy and mommy who love you very much. Poppy and I commit to being supportive of them in all they do to raise you in the ways of the Lord.
So many people love you, sweet boy. In addition to your daddy and mommy, you have two papas, two grandmas, and two uncles who adore every sweet little breath you take. We will protect you, be your cheerleaders in whatever you pursue, and provide an extra safe place for you to fall.
Poppy and I have big plans for you when you come over to play. We’ll build castles out of blocks, take nature walks, make forts by throwing blankets over the living room furniture, and read books. When it’s too rainy or cold to play outside, I’ll set you up on my kitchen island, and we’ll bake cookies – and I will sneak the wooden spoon to you to lick even though you haven’t had lunch yet, and we’ll make up silly stories while they bake. Poppy will draw and paint with you, give you quarters to carry in your pocket, tell you about his daddy who fought in WWII, and play his granddaddy’s violin for you. Please always know that you are a priority to us.
I promise to pray for you, Cole. I will pray for your health and safety. I will pray for you to be protected from evil. I will pray for clear direction from God for you. I will even begin praying for the right wife for you just like I did for your daddy when he was a baby. Above all, I will pray for your salvation. I pray that you will discover grace that comes by faith in Jesus. Nothing is more important.
Welcome to God’s big amazing world! Let’s have fun!
I love you,
